Couples & Family Therapy
When working with young children and adolescents, it is beneficial to include parents and families in the process of making positive changes. Therapy is generally more effective if global change occurs within a family rather than solely within one individual. In my practice, I regularly provide couples and family therapy and focus particular attention on parent coaching. A parent coaching session may occur with or without the child present.
In most cases, I provide in-the-moment training for parents in the presence of their child to learn how to better navigate behavioral difficulties. Parent coaching is always a collaborative process wherein I assume the role of the behavioral expert and the parents maintain their roles as experts of their child. The goal of coaching is for parents to experience success and confidence in better understanding their child.
