Social Skills Groups

 

  • High School Social Skills Group (Ages 14-19)
    Time: Thursdays from 5:15pm - 6:05pm
    Facilitator: Dr. Jocelyn Levitan

    The High School Social Skills Group is for teens ranging in age from 14-19. The clients in this group are working on advanced social skills related to improving their ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the social and emotional needs of others in their changing environments. Every client has individualized goals that they help to create and that are tracked weekly in order to experience success while engaging with their peers both in and out of the group setting.

 

  • Social Skills Group (Ages 13-16)
    Time: Wednesdays from 4:15pm – 5:00pm
    Facilitator: Dr. Carrie Dilley 

    This Social Skills Group is for teens ranging in age from 13-16. The clients in this group are working on advanced social skills related to improving their ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the social and emotional needs of others in their changing environments. Every client has individualized goals that they help to create and that are tracked weekly in order to experience success while engaging with their peers both in and out of the group setting. 

     
  • Girls' Social Skills Group (Ages 12-15)
    Time: Tuesdays from 3:45p - 4:30pm
    Facilitator: Dr. Carrie Dilley 
     
    The Girls' Social Skills Group is a group for pre-teen and young teen girls. The
    clients in this group are working on advanced social skills related to navigating the complexities of young female relationships, navigating bullying, social acceptance of self and others, issues related to puberty, and developing an improved awareness of their reactions toward peers. The members of this group have individualized and larger group goals that promote their social growth both in and outside of the group setting.  

 

  • Upper Elementary/Middle School Social Skills Group (Ages 10-13)
    Time: Tuesdays from 4:30pm - 5:15pm

The Upper Elementary/Middle School Social Skills Group is for adolescents ranging in age from 10-13. The clients in this group are working on intermediate-advanced social skills related to improving their ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the social and emotional needs of others in their changing environments. Every client has individualized goals that they help to create and that are tracked weekly in order to experience success while engaging with their peers both in and out of the group setting. 

  
  • Elementary Social Skills Group (Ages 8-11)
    Time: Mondays from 3:45pm - 4:30pm 
    Facilitator: Dr. Jennifer Lee-Dick 

    The Elementary Social Skills Group is for children ranging in age from 8-11 years old. The clients in this group are working on intermediate social skills related to improving their ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the social and emotional needs and reactions of others in their changing environments. Every client has individualized goals that are developed in collaboration with their parents and that are tracked weekly in order to experience success while engaging with their peers both in and out of the group setting.   

     
  • Early Elementary Social Skills Group (Ages 6-8)
    Time: Mondays from 4:30pm - 5:15pm
    Facilitator: Dr. Jennifer Lee-Dick 

    The Elementary Social Skills Group is for children ranging in age from 6-8 years old. The clients in this group are working on intermediate social skills related to improving their ability to anticipate, understand, and respond to the social and emotional needs and reactions of others in their changing environments. Every client has individualized goals that are developed in collaboration with their parents and that are tracked weekly in order to experience success while engaging with their peers both in and out of the group setting.   

  • Pre-K & Kindergarten Social Skills Group (Ages 4-6)
    Time: Group Re-Forming (TBD)
    Facilitator: Dr. Jennifer Lee-Dick 

    The Pre-K & Kindergarten Social Skills Group is for children ranging in age from 4-6. The clients in this group work on basic-intermediate social skills related to improving their ability to play with and respond appropriately to similar aged peers. Involvement in this group helps bridge the gap from parallel to active engagement with peers. Every client has individualized goals that they help to create along with their parents and that are tracked weekly in order to experience success while engaging with their peers both in and out of the group setting.  


Anxiety Groups
 

  • High School Anxiety & Stress Management Group (9th-12th Grade) 
    Time: Wednesdays from 6:30pm - 7:20pm (Currently meets every other week)
    Facilitator: Dr. Jocelyn Levitan

    During each group session, students learn, share, and practice coping strategies to reduce their stress and anxiety. Students have the opportunity to practice skills learned in group and provide support for one another. Group Topics Include: Practicing relaxation and mindfulness strategies, understanding how anxiety is manifested in the body, learning how thoughts and emotions are connected, helping students to change their negative thought patterns, and improving self-esteem and self-efficacy. 

 

  • Upper Elementary & Middle School Anxiety Group (4th-8th Grade) 
    Time: Wednesdays from 6:30pm - 7:20pm
    Facilitator: Dr. Joe Dilley

 Executive Skills Group

  • Middle School through High School Executive Skills Group (7th-12th Grade) 
    Time: Wednesdays from 5:30pm - 6:20pm 
    Facilitator: Dr. Joe Dilley  

    Synergy’s Executive Skills Group affords students the opportunity to learn, practice, and teach one
    another about organization, sequencing, planning, task initiation, impulse control, response inhibition, sustaining attention, and multi-tasking, which are proven to make school and extracurricular activities more fun and rewarding. Because the groups are interactive, members master the Executive Skills while simultaneously building social skills! 


Life Transition Group

  • Young Adult Life Transition Group (Ages 18-25)
    Time: Wednesdays from 7:30pm - 8:20pm
    Facilitator: Dr. Joe Dilley  

    The young adult life transition group focuses on developing answers to the following types of life questions: What classes should I take to get into the career I really want? and Should I live at home to save money? In essence: Where am I going and who's going with me? These are the kinds of questions we are wise to ask as we transition out of high school and through our mid-twenties. The group affords the opportunity to do so in a supportive atmosphere with like-minded others.
